Life On a Bus by Roan Raven Wolf
Life on a Bus… after a long boring winter stuck in Arizona unable to chase paragliders as Cyn Built our home I was very excited to finally hit the road with my partner in Crime, Pluto this spring for some adventure. We drove north at the end of November into a snow storm and with in the first three hours of leaving Phoenix I was bounding through the snow drifts of Flagstaff. It was warm inside with the fire going so I stayed outside in the falling snow chasing bunnies until I could smell dinner.
Only 160 square feet inside, two humans and two dogs live comfortably and drove over two thousand miles in February, March, and April. From Moab to San Diego and then back up the coast to Monterey for the summer paragliding season. With frequent stops and over nights in wild and beautiful places there was plenty of space outside to run and chase the local squirrels. Although my home always stayed and smelled the same inside, as soon as the door opened it was an entirely different and exciting landscape for Pluto and I to explore. With consistent dinner and snacks smells coming from the bus it is always easy to find our way home - even when we wonder far from home and stress Cyn and Kyle out. Guys, we will always come back for the chicken treats, duh. I seriously don’t know why they worry… we are trying to catch squirrels for dinner for the pack anyway.
The bus is good for naps, cuddles, and snacks…. I love the consistency of our home on wheels.
New smells and small creatures to chase every where, I am literally in heaven. I prefer to be out chasing but I also quite enjoy just watching from my den. Now that we are back in Monterey I get to chase the paragliders again most days so there is more time for naps when we are home.
