How CBD Changed My Life
As a professional BASE jumper and paragliding instructor you would not think that I suffer from anxiety. While BASE jumping and paragliding require me to face my fear and work through it, I still struggle with the every day mundane anxiety of interacting with humans and the pressures of succeeding at my career and life style.
Even though I do take my training and experience conquering my fears jumping off cliffs and apply it to my everyday life... like everyone else I have days that can feel over whelming. With the death of a close friend in 2016, my divorce just before that, and a near death experience of my own I found myself spiraling out of control in mid to late 2016. I spent the winter and spring of 2017 picking up my pieces and completely rebuilding my life and career from the ground up. I was in a state of flux, instability, and unknown and it was terrifying.
My chest felt tight, my weight fluctuated from day to day, and already pron to migraines, I was having them more frequently than normal. Yoga, meditation, diet, and exorcise have always been my way to stabilize my mind and body. But 2017 kept coming at me strong with high ups and low downs, it was disorienting and hard to focus on my long term goals.
In February of 2017 a representative from Ojai Energitics contacted me about their super CBD tincture, they wanted to partner with me as an athlete and help get their product into the extreme sport industry. I talked to him on the phone for almost an hour about the healing properties of CBD, not entirely sure how I felt about it. He himself was an expert skier and had a gnarly accident a few years back that left him with chronic head aches and pain, he raved about CBD and convinced me to try the tincture. They shipped me a box with a few bottles of tincture, CBD oil, and some muscle cream.
CBD can be taken daily like a vitamin or you can take larger doses for pain and/or anxiety. There is no psychoactive side effects what so ever (no high or fuzzy feeling), so I can take it in the morning and go about my day normally. At first I took it to help with my anxiety, and the problem was so deep that I knew it would take weeks to really break it down and help me feel more stable. It absolutely did, in fact I felt different, calmer more clear headed on the first day. I went on a few weeks like that and shared it with a few of my friends. Two of my very close friends had broken major bones in their bodies and were trying to get off the opioids they were prescribed from their doctors for pain management. Both friends had basically just stopped taking their prescribed percocet and were just dealing with the pain, they both took the CBD for a few weeks and told me about pain relieving effects.
I took the partnership with Ojai Energetics and we moved forward with the campaign. I kept taking the CBD daily and taking higher doses when I was in pain or felt higher levels of anxiety. I highly recommend it for migraine sufferers. If you are looking for a natural supplement alternative to pain management you really should try CBD!
I had my first severe BASE jumping injury in May of 2017 at 628 jumps, had to make a sharp turn close to the ground to avoid power lines and hit the ground side on. I injured my back and ribs and was in severe pain for a few days. I upped my dose of CBD and healed a minor spinal injury enough to continue being a professional tandem instructor in weeks. With no side effects to make me drowsy or fuzzy I was able to go on with my day to day activities.
Now I just take it more as a supplement, in small doses. Pairing CBD with meditation and yoga has increased the positive overall impact of my practice. It is a perfect complement to my personal health and wellness program, and am happy to have it in my life.
